Terms and Conditions

Thank you for your request to quote on the current project. Please read through the terms and 
conditions of trade as set out by Barrett Group Services Pty Ltd. They cover all aspects of our 
business with a focus on Electrical and HVAC systems. These are attached and binding to all quotes 
and estimates submitted by the company.  
 
Work by others: 
Our proposal provides for the supply and fitting of all unit, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, ducting 
and accessories, sheet metal fittings, stands and supports, and auxiliary parts.  
 
Where it is necessary for us to make penetration of walls, ceilings, roofs etc., we do our best to 
patch, flash, or otherwise make good, but do not accept any liability as this is done out of goodwill. 
We also do not undertake any painting or decorating to other than factory finish of any part of the 
air conditioning or Electrical installation and building work.  
 
a) Painting & patching.  
b) Work outside normal hours i.e. 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.  
d) Boxing in of exposed ducting (IF REQUIRED), (4 ) droppers required.  
e) Modification to roof trusses is required for fan coil unit and supply air ductwork.  
f) Poured concrete pad base for condensing unit is required size dependent upon model selected.  
h) Cutting and removal of asbestos sections for placements of vents.  
i) Insulation of ceiling R2.5 fibreglass batts or equivalent.  
j) Window treatment.  
 
 
 
Terms of Payment:  
Payment can be split as follows:  
 
Part A – Rough-in ............................. 60%  
 
Part B – Completion .......................... 40% 
 
“Practical Completion” means when the installation of the goods is completed for practical purposes 
and is fit for use by the purchaser. Finishing of minor items or minor finishing works shall not be 
grounds for disputing that the works are practically completed.  
 
Prices are current as of date of quote and may be subject to manufacturer’s price increases which 
occur from time to time.  
 
Manufacturer’s have been requesting sets be purchased at the one time, and where this is 
necessary, the split in pricing will reflect this. 
 
 
Warranty:  
 
a) Equipment 
Equipment is warranted for five (5) years parts and labour as per the terms of the Warranty 
Certificate. 
b) Materials 
 
All Materials and fittings provided will be covered under the standard manufactures’ Warranty 
issued by the associated corporation. 
c) Workmanship 
Upon completion, any aspect of the job that is found unsatisfactory must be brought to the 
attention of the installer before they leave site. Any workmanship found not to be to standard  
d) Refrigeration 
Refrigerant is a consumable item, which will require topping up during the life of your air 
conditioning system. Warranty for refrigerant topping up will only extend to twelve (12) months 
from commission. However, any equipment failure requiring replacement of refrigerant will be 
warranted for the full five (5) years.  
 
e) Filtration 
Standard washable filters are a consumable item, which if washed regularly as required, will need 
replacing after twelve (12) months and is chargeable.  
 
Barrett Group Services, under the Terms and Conditions of the Manufacturer’s Warranty Conditions, 
shall carry out all warranty repairs. You may, however, employ a local contractor to carry out general 
maintenance not covered under warranty, as listed below.  
 
No back charges will be accepted, unless ordered in writing by a representative of this company.  
 
Please Note: The following items are not covered under warranty, and any service calls are 
chargeable at the current rates:  
 
i) Blown fuses  
 
ii) Power failure and any power surges from local electricity supplier  
 
iii) Nuisance calls where no mechanical fault exists  
 
iv) Dirty filters  
v) Systems subject to misuse, abuse, negligence  
 
vi) Air balance after commissioning and three months use  
vii) Incorrect operation of thermostat or tuition after commissioning  
viii) Ground subsiding around condensing unit  
ix) Excessive defrost operation due to air conditioning unit location.  
 
f) Warranty Voidance  
Please note – with low roof lines, accessibility can be an issue for servicing and maintenance for 
both short and long term. Where accessibility is hindered, warranty can be voided, and/or costs 
associated with gaining access including cutting of ceilings / roofs away to enable access will be 
incurred by the property owner.  

 

Exclusions:  
Not included in the pricing of this quote and are optional extra expenditure are the following; 
- Disconnection of services for demolition “Make safe”  – Agreeable hourly rate service 
- Changes to internal emergency lighting arrangements due to the extension 
- Changes to internal emergency exit signage due to the extension  
- Any paint and patch work caused throughout construction 
- The removal and disposal of any rubbish produced throughout construction  
- Any costs to bring existing installation up to AS 3000:2018  
- Any costs for upgrades required to existing installation 
 
 
 
Building Construction Materials:  
Our quotation is based on the building under consideration being constructed from timber, bricks 
and plaster. If, upon inspection, we find asbestos sheeting in the ceilings or walls, we will advise you 
immediately. All costs involved in providing penetrations to allow for the installation of the system 
proposed will be extra to our quoted price. 
 
 
 
Australian Standards:  
All work must and will be carried out in accordance with the requirements of AS/NZ 3000:2018, AS 
2293.1-2005, AS 2293.2:1995 (including amendment 1), AS 2293.3-2005 and complies with the 
Electrical Safety Act. 
 
 
 
Special Considerations:  
Due to the evolving nature of the COVID – 19 outbreak globally, project delays may be unavoidable 
due to the inability to guarantee delivery channels, government regulations, forced closures, health 
and safety of staff and or other factors outside of our control. 
 

Please note that upon acceptance of any estimate or quotation, a purchase order or equivalent 
will be required before commencement of work/ ordering of gear.
